Developing the next generation of soccer talent

RDT Soccer Academy is our new in-house developmental league for players ages 7 to 12. Designed to nurture young athletes in a fun and challenging environment, our academy aims to build confident, skilled, and team-oriented players who love the game.

We’re kicking off our first season with 16 developmental teams, four teams per age division. Due to limited spots, these teams will be structured as boys teams to start, but female athletes are strongly encouraged to try out. As the program grows, our goal is to introduce both boys and girls divisions.

Tryout Registration

Opens Friday, July 25 at 5pm

FEE

Try-Out: $15 per session (max 2) to be paid at the session
League: Approx. $1,000

Duration

Weekly Training: 60-minute sessions
Weekly Game: 50-minute match and 10-minute warm up

NOTE: We recommend registering for out Indoor Grassroots Training Program so that your child still has game time if they do not make the cut during the tryout. If Accepted into the Academy you’ll be moved into the Academy group and the remaining program fees will be collected.

Jersey, Socks and Shorts will be provided if you qualify for the League.

Age Divisions

  • U7 and 8 Boys: Born 2017-2018
  • U9 Boys: Born 2016
  • U10 Boys: Born 2015
  • U11 and 12 Boys: Born 2013-14
Due to limited team numbers, this season is boys-only. However, girls are encouraged to register and try out. Future seasons aim to include both boys and girls divisions.

Locations and Schedules

Tryouts & Assessments

  • Tuesday evening and Saturday morning

  • Held at Saint John’s-Ravenscourt School – 400 South Dr.

  • Each player will receive 2 scheduled assessment sessions, however players may only need one assessment to be placed. 

 
Developmental League

Training Session:

  • Day: Saturdays between 3:30pm – 5:30pm

  • Location: Winnipeg Soccer South Complex (UofM) – 211 Chancellor Matheson Rd

  • Duration: 60 minutes

Game Day:

  • Day: Sundays between 11:00am – 3:00pm

  • Location: Axworthy RecPlex (UofW) – 350 Spence St.

  • Format: 6v6, full field, 50-minute matches

Preparing for Tryouts

Before Tryouts:

  • Practice with the ball daily (15–20 min)

  • Play mini-games with friends

  • Watch soccer to learn movements and passing

  • Rest well and eat a healthy meal beforehand

During Tryouts:

  • Arrive early and warm up

  • Stay positive, even after mistakes

  • Ask questions if you’re unsure

  • Show your love for the game – enjoy yourself!

How to Register

  • Register for the Indoor Grassroots Training

    • This secures your spot and covers the initial $420 fee

  • Register for a Tryout Assessment

    • $15 per assessment, max of two, paid at the sessions

  • If Accepted into the Academy:

    • You’ll be moved into the Academy group

    • Remaining program fees will be collected

  • If Not Accepted:

    • Player continues in the Indoor Grassroots Program

    • No additional fees required
